Franciscan Autumn Feast
The 28th Annual Franciscan Autumn Feast takes place on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club beginning at 2:00 P.M. Tickets are $100.00 per person. There are sponsorships available.
This year the Sisters will honor St. John the Baptist Parish with the Mother Alfred Moes Award. The Joliet Franciscan Heritage Award will be presented to Joe and Jodie (posthumously) Adler.
The Feast is one of two events held annually to raise money and awareness for the Sisters’ ministries. Founded in 1865, the Joliet Franciscan Sisters have been in education since their beginning. As society changed, so did the focus of the Sisters. Today, in addition to still teaching in the classroom, the Sisters are also teaching at the Will County Correction Center helping the incarcerated to prepare for GEDs. Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) is also among the Sisters’ ministries. More recently, the annual Bluestem Earth Festival is a vehicle by which the Sisters and their Associates present useful and actionable information to incorporate into a more eco-conscious lifestyle. Workshops focused on the issues surrounding racism and human trafficking are also part of the Sisters’ work now, as well as working with immigrant populations in the area of education.
